Getting it straight from the Mayor…
Multi-million dollar sports complex opens on Wolf Road, popular restaurant to follow
I had the pleasure last week to tour the newly opened 60,000 square foot Score Fitness Center at 8300 Wolf Road. Many of you fondly remember the good old days of the former Chalet which closed in 2012. Take only a few steps into the new Score Fitness Center and you will hardly recognize the place. The new ownership has spared no cost to produce a state of the art health, fitness and recreation facility where years of fond memories are sure to come for area residents. Please take the time to visit in person this tremendous facility. Everything sticks out as brand new and top-notch. There is even a fitness room with age-appropriate exercise equipment for the youngest of your family. What a great idea to provide day-care where youngsters can exercise just like mom and dad. Good habits start young. Also, the Score Fitness Center is advertising the coming of locally popular Capri Restaurant. The restaurant is opening another branch on the Center’s grounds. This provides yet another dining option within a short drive, bike ride or walk for our residents. The restaurant hopes to open within the next month or two. Please support this business and keep your tax dollars working for you at home. The Score Center will now be a viable revenue producing entity under private ownership. The Chalet was most recently operated by the Pleasantdale Park District under a tax-exempt status.
Seniors celebrate Christmas with new officers inducted
Congratulations to the newly installed officers of the Willow Springs Seniors Club: Adrianne Hanson, Jean Mrkacek, Maryann Zima, and newly elected President Sandy Munch. Sandy brings a wealth of experience and drive from organizing many of our Parks Committee events over the years. If you have yet to check out our Seniors Club, please do so, as it has a well-deserved reputation as the best in the area.
Children enjoy Christmas Party, Tree Lighting, Santa Run, while Toys for Tots rides again
Once again our annual Children’s Christmas Party and Tree Lighting was a tremendous success, thanks to all the hard work and talents of local volunteers and staff. More than 200 children enjoyed lunch with a visit from Santa and finished up with carriage rides and Christmas carols in the Village Center. Thanks to the big hearts of our Tri-State firemen, Santa Claus was escorted safely through town on his “sleigh” to share a hardy smile and candy canes with local children. I am pleased to report that the annual Toys for Tots Ride in Chicago was another success. I’ve been proud to participate in this wonderful cause the past 22 years. More than 13,000 motorcyclists took part. Thank you to all who donated toys for children. I am also grateful to my wife, Nina, who this year accompanied me for the ride.
I hope Christmastime brings you many blessings. Make sure to spread the spirit and enjoy time with family and friends. I wish you a very prosperous and happy New Year.
Kindest Regards,
Alan
